Getting started
KREZUS helps you keep a personal record of holdings, transactions, valuations and portfolio results. It records the information you enter; it does not execute trades or provide investment advice.
Reporting currency: GBP (£) Free & open source (MIT) Privacy first
KREZUS is free of charge and its source code is distributed under the MIT License. Read the open-source licence included in the same folder.
Where does the name KREZUS come from?
The Polish word krezus means an extremely wealthy person or tycoon. It comes from Croesus, the historical king of Lydia who ruled in the 6th century BCE and was famed for his immense wealth...
1. Add assets in Transactions
- Open Transactions and use the first card, Add asset.
- Choose an item from the catalogue when available, or enter the asset name, class, account type and currency.
- Enter the current price if known. If you already own the asset, enter quantity held and purchase price together, plus the purchase date. KREZUS creates one opening purchase transaction.
- For new activity later, use the transaction form below. Do not add the same opening purchase twice.
Portfolio is now read-only: quantity held and cost are calculated from the transaction register. If an asset with the same name, class, currency and account already exists, KREZUS asks before creating a second one.
Account type abbreviations
Stocks & Shares ISA
ISA means Individual Savings Account. This account holds investments; eligible returns are generally tax-free under UK rules and ISA limits.
Lifetime ISA (LISA)
A type of ISA for eligible first-home purchases or later-life savings. Eligibility rules and withdrawal penalties can apply.
SIPP
Self-Invested Personal Pension — a personal pension that lets you choose investments. Pension tax relief and access rules apply.
General Investment Account (GIA)
A standard investment account outside an ISA or pension wrapper. Tax may apply to gains, dividends or interest.
NS&I
National Savings and Investments, a UK government-backed savings provider. In KREZUS, this includes Premium Bonds.
Other
Use this for an account type not covered above. Its tax treatment depends on the product and your circumstances.
These are short descriptions, not personal tax advice. Check current UK rules and product terms before relying on tax treatment.
2. Record transactions
Open Transactions, select the asset, transaction type and date, then fill in the relevant fields. For faster entry, use the dedicated “Record a dividend / interest” and “Record a Premium Bonds prize” buttons above the transaction form.
Purchase or sale
Enter quantity, unit price and any fee. A sale cannot exceed the quantity currently held.
Dividend / interest
Select the asset that paid the dividend, click “Record a dividend / interest” (or choose “Income (dividend / interest)”), then enter the received amount in “Income amount”. Quantity is disabled and not required. Enter a fee if applicable. Income is shown in the Income KPI. If the cash is paid out and is not represented as a portfolio asset, the portfolio-value chart may remain unchanged.
Premium Bonds prize
First add the “NS&I Premium Bonds” asset from the catalogue if you have not already done so. Click “Record a Premium Bonds prize”; the tracker selects this asset and sets the type to “Premium Bonds win (reinvested)”. Enter the prize in “Prize amount (£)”. For a prize paid out in cash, use “Income (dividend / interest)” instead; this does not increase the bond holding.
Currency and fees
Transaction prices and fees are entered in the selected asset's currency. Keep records accurate, especially when entering older transactions.
Transaction note: You can add an optional comment of up to 500 characters to explain a purchase, sale, dividend or other entry. The “Transaction note / comment (optional)” field appears below the fee field and above “Save transaction”. It is saved with the transaction and included in JSON backups.
3. Keep prices and exchange rates up to date
- For manual pricing, open Settings from the footer and edit the asset's Current price. Portfolio is a read-only view. Totals and charts recalculate after the price is saved.
- Exchange rates for PLN, EUR and USD to GBP are requested when the tracker opens. You can also open Exchange rates to GBP and select Refresh exchange rates.
- Exchange rates come from Frankfurter and are reference rates, normally updated daily rather than live market quotes. If the connection fails, the tracker retains the last saved rates; initial rates may be examples, so check them before relying on calculations.
- Automatic asset prices use Twelve Data directly. Create a free account at Twelve Data API keys, copy your key. In Portfolio, use the visible Fetch current prices button for updates. For first-time setup, open Settings from the footer, then enter your key in Automatic prices, select Save API key, and run Test API key. No Worker or separate server is needed.
- Enter a supported symbol such as
AAPL, BTC/USD, XAU/USD or SYMBOL:LSE. For exchange prices quoted in pence (GBX), set the multiplier to 0.01. Crypto and metals use USD pairs by default and are converted with the tracker's saved Frankfurter rates. - The Basic free plan is limited to 8 API credits per minute and 800 per day, and covers only selected markets. Some UK-listed shares and funds are not available on this plan. When a symbol/market is unsupported, the tracker leaves the existing price unchanged and shows a status message; enter that valuation manually. The API key is stored locally in each browser and must be entered separately on every device. It is not encrypted by KREZUS.
- Check Twelve Data's current pricing and data-use terms before relying on price display. The Basic plan is labelled for internal non-display use, so a usage/display license may be needed depending on how you use the tracker.
How the new workflow fits together
Transactions → Portfolio → History and reports. Add assets and record every purchase, sale or income in Transactions. Portfolio is read-only: holdings and cost are calculated from the transaction register. Price changes and exchange-rate changes are managed in Settings and recalculate the views. The chart uses recorded changes and historical valuations; the History table keeps only one closing valuation per day.
4. Current value and history
- The Home page and read-only Portfolio table use the current holdings, transaction register, asset prices and exchange rates. Portfolio also includes allocation by asset class and account type.
- After a purchase, sale, income entry, asset-price change or exchange-rate change, KREZUS recalculates the portfolio and records a dated point in the change log. The value-over-time chart uses these change-log points as well as saved daily valuations. The first recorded state is shown as a single dot; later changes add points to the trend line.
- The History table keeps only one closing valuation per date. Further valuation saves for the same date replace that day's previous closing value, preventing duplicate daily rows.
- Use Save valuation to create or replace today's closing valuation. Use the historical valuation form only to enter a known value for a past date. Changing a historical value does not pretend that a current change happened on that old date.
- Re-fetching identical market prices or exchange rates does not add a duplicate chart point; only changed values create a new portfolio-history event. The first recorded state appears as a dot; further changes build the trend line.
5. Reports
- Portfolio includes allocation by asset class, account type and individual holding.
- Annual summary compares contributions, sales, valuations and results by calendar year or UK tax year.
- Capital gains (CGT) is an indicative overview only. The tracker does not apply every HMRC matching rule, historical transaction-date exchange rates or all loss carry-forwards. Do not use it as a substitute for checking your tax position.
6. Back up your data
- Your working data is stored in the browser on the device you use. It does not automatically sync to another browser or device.
- Select Create backup now or open Backups and data management → Backup (JSON). Store the downloaded file somewhere safe.
- The tracker may offer to create a
Krezus_Database folder if your browser supports direct folder access. Otherwise, the backup downloads as a file and can be moved manually. - To restore data, choose Restore backup and select the JSON file. Restoring replaces the data currently in this browser, so first export a backup of the current data if you may need it.
Important: make backups before clearing browser data, changing browser profiles or moving to another device. If the backup is encrypted with a PIN, you will need that PIN to restore it. The PIN cannot be recovered if forgotten.
Privacy first: local by design
Website visits are measured by Google Analytics 4 only after consent. This is separate from the local portfolio file; the downloaded ZIP version of the tracker does not include website analytics. You can change your choice in Cookie settings on the website.
- Your holdings, transactions and valuations are stored in this browser on this device. KREZUS does not upload your full portfolio to a KREZUS server and does not provide a KREZUS account or cloud storage.
- When automatic prices are enabled, your browser sends quote-symbol requests and your Twelve Data API key to Twelve Data. Currency-rate requests send currency codes to Frankfurter. These services receive the requests needed to return data, not the complete portfolio or transaction log.
- The Twelve Data API key is stored locally in each browser and is not encrypted by KREZUS. Enter it separately on each device you use.
- Backups are not automatically uploaded by KREZUS. The JSON file is saved wherever you choose to save it. For an offline copy, use a local folder, USB flash drive or external drive. If you choose a cloud-synced folder, that third-party service may upload the file.
- The tracker is free of charge and open source under the MIT License. Third-party services, trademarks and market data remain subject to their own terms. See LICENSE.txt.
- The tracker is a personal record-keeping tool, not a broker or investment, tax or legal adviser. Results depend on the entries, prices and exchange rates available in the tracker. PIN protection helps prevent casual access but does not replace device and backup security.

1. Dodawaj aktywa w zakładce Transakcje
- Otwórz zakładkę Transakcje i użyj pierwszego kafelka Dodaj aktywo.

SIPP
Self-Invested Personal Pension — prywatny program emerytalny, w którym samodzielnie wybierasz inwestycje. Obowiązują zasady ulg i wieku wypłaty.
Konto zwykłe (GIA)
General Investment Account — standardowe konto inwestycyjne poza ISA lub kontem emerytalnym. Podatek może dotyczyć zysków, dywidend lub odsetek.
NS&I
National Savings and Investments — brytyjski dostawca oszczędności wspierany przez rząd. W KREZUS obejmuje m.in. Premium Bonds.
Inne (Other)
Przed zastosowaniem ulg sprawdź aktualne przepisy UK i warunki produktu.
2. Rejestruj transakcje
Otwórz Transakcje, wybierz aktywo, rodzaj operacji i datę, a następnie uzupełnij odpowiednie pola. Aby przyspieszyć wpisywanie, użyj przycisków „Dodaj dywidendę / odsetki” lub „Dodaj wygraną Premium Bonds” nad formularzem.
Kupno lub sprzedaż
Podaj ilość, cenę jednostkową i ewentualną opłatę. Nie można sprzedać więcej jednostek, niż aktualnie posiadasz.
Dywidenda / odsetki
Wybierz aktywo, które wypłaciło dywidendę, kliknij „Dodaj dywidendę / odsetki” (lub wybierz „Dochód (dywidenda / odsetki)”), a następnie wpisz otrzymaną kwotę w polu „Kwota dochodu”. Ilość nie jest potrzebna. Wpisz opłatę, jeśli występuje.
Wygrana Premium Bonds
Kliknij „Dodaj wygraną Premium Bonds”; tracker wybierze to aktywo i ustawi typ „Wygrana Premium Bonds (reinwestowana)”. Wpisz nagrodę w polu „Kwota wygranej (£)”. Jeśli wygrana jest wypłacona gotówką, wybierz „Dochód (dywidenda / odsetki)” — nie zwiększy to liczby obligacji.
Waluta i opłaty
Ceny transakcji i opłaty podawaj w walucie wybranego aktywa. Zwróć szczególną uwagę na poprawność starszych wpisów.
Notatka do transakcji: Możesz dodać opcjonalny komentarz do 500 znaków, aby opisać zakup, sprzedaż, dywidendę lub inny wpis. Pole „Notatka / komentarz (opcjonalnie)” znajduje się pod polem opłaty, bezpośrednio nad przyciskiem „Zapisz transakcję”. Notatka jest zapisywana razem z transakcją i trafia do kopii JSON.
3. Aktualizuj ceny i kursy walut
Możesz też rozwinąć sekcję Kursy walut do GBP i wybrać Odśwież kursy walut.
KREZUS go nie szyfruje.
- Przed korzystaniem sprawdź aktualne ceny i zasady wykorzystania danych Twelve Data.
Transakcje → Portfel → Historia i raporty.
4. Bieżąca wartość i historia
- Strona Start i widok Portfel korzystają z aktywów, rejestru transakcji, cen i kursów walut. Portfel pokazuje najpierw wykres alokacji i podsumowanie według klas aktywów, a poniżej tabelę posiadanych pozycji.
5. Raporty
- Portfel zawiera alokację według klas aktywów, kont i poszczególnych pozycji.
- Podsumowanie roczne porównuje wpłaty, sprzedaże, wyceny i wyniki w roku kalendarzowym lub brytyjskim roku podatkowym.
- Zyski kapitałowe (CGT) to tylko zestawienie orientacyjne. Tracker nie uwzględnia wszystkich reguł dopasowania HMRC, historycznych kursów walut z dat transakcji ani wszystkich strat przeniesionych z wcześniejszych lat. Nie traktuj go jako zamiennika sprawdzenia własnego rozliczenia podatkowego.
- Wybierz Utwórz kopię teraz albo otwórz Kopie zapasowe i zarządzanie danymi → Kopia zapasowa (JSON). Zachowaj pobrany plik w bezpiecznym miejscu.
- Jeśli przeglądarka obsługuje bezpośredni dostęp do folderów, tracker może zaproponować utworzenie folderu
Krezus_Database. W przeciwnym razie kopia zostanie pobrana jako plik i można ją przenieść ręcznie. - Aby odtworzyć dane, wybierz Przywróć kopię i wskaż plik JSON.
Jeśli kopia jest zaszyfrowana PIN-em, będzie on potrzebny do jej przywrócenia.
Zapytania o kursy walut przesyłają do Frankfurter kody walut.
Wpisz go osobno na każdym używanym urządzeniu.
